I love books. Most people I know do too. They are the ultimate portable, durable, low energy demand entertainment and educational device. In my view they still are. Gutenberg did something magical when he made the book more easily mass producible.
Mark Pilgrim takes a look at the state of book writers and revenue in an interesting piece I linked below. I can't help but notice though that while it applies perfectly to technical books, this article is less relevant to narratives like biography or fiction. Unless of course, one is the type of person who is satisfied with "Cliff's Notes" versions of literature. Then there is little positive outlook for your soul.
