TweetDeck goin buh-bye?

Business journals are reporting that TweetDeck is the object of a buyout proposal from Twitter.  This is interpreted as a purely defensive play to keep rival apps from acquiring and continuing to propagate challengers to Twitter's own Tweetie based app.

London base TweetDeck is accountable for about 15% of tweets, so it's fate goes a long way in settling the consolidation of Twitter apps.

I have been waiting and waiting for the oft promised, continually delayed update to make a TweetDeck iOS app that less buggy and more multitasky. It may be time to put that behind me.

If Twitter buys TweetDeck to keep it out of the hands of rival app houses, they aren't likely to keep it alive for the sake of variety. They seem to be warring on apps that challenge their's.

All this is based on speculation, so we who hope for TweetDeck wait and watch.
