Kill the Messenger

One large black mark on the Android track record: the SMS debacle. I like opensource, and I like Google. I also like my job, friends, and family. That's why I'm concerned with the SMS bug effecting Android handsets. I, thankfully, only had this happen to me once and it wasn't a big deal. For the uninitiated, SMS messages can be sent to the wrong contact, even when you click the correct intended recipient. It takes but a few seconds to imagine a number of situations under which a misdirected SMS could become a major problem for the sender.

Not a new problem, reports have been circulating since June '10.  The length of this issue makes me slightly concerned about priorities in the house of Google.

The solution: download another app.  I use Handcent because its free and through customization, I get something akin to my native messenger.

  1. Dang! That would aggravate! Beehive is my fave, but it's not free. And for an iPad it's $10! I have also used IM+, a good one
