Amazon's tablet is coming, but what will it be? It's something of an open... - gdgt
I saw this article refered to on Endgadget, but went directly to the source at gdgt. http://gdgt.com/discuss/amazons-tablet-coming-but-what-will-it-d07/
I had posted about this subject earlier in the year. If you consider the fact, supported by research on iPad users, that tablets are used mostly to read and watch content from online, and put that together with Amazon's power as a distributor of content, then add in their experience with Kindle readers, it is obvious the next step is a full fledged tablet. Amazon has a great store experience, and getting hardware into hands to act as a pipeline is smart. I would not look for Apple sexy, but I would bet it is a bargain that is compelling.
One big question though, is gaming- how well Amazon can compete on gaming.
For me, content creation and work is the main function of any device, so I am less likely to be the target buyer. But when I buy, Amazon is my first web stop, so I will be happily anticipating a disruption from the Seattle company.
The story here is that a content/store enterprise is likely to be the best competitor to Apple in the tablet vertical. Not a hardware house, nor search/advertising house (Google).
