When you eat in the Big Apple, you gotta make reservations! Unless you eat at 5:30 in the afternoon. And not on Friday and Saturday. So since we sometimes find ourselves needing to make a reservation, I gave Open Table a try.
Interestingly, during the .com boom, I was in San Francisco, running restaurants. Guess what? We talked with Open Table repeatedly, as they wooed us to let them manage reservations for us. It seemed like magic at the time, and a bit unlikely to gain widespread use, for who sits at a computer to make dining decisions? Even then and there, this was a bit too nerdy.
BOOM! iPhone and smartphones changed this game, eh? Now its easy, and efficacious! We find where to eat on our iPhone, and make reservations in it too. When we change plans, we can do that too!
How I do this is on OpenTable.com- fast, reliable, and easy, this is mobile internet at its best. It is also a bit costly for restaurants- $1 per customer who uses the site. But hey, you make reservations at toney joints dontcha? If you eat at those places, and don't have an assistant to take care of you, OpenTable is the way to go. Good stuff indeed.
