Browsers are the most used apps. They are increasingly our way of interacting with everything we do on computers. Certainly browsers define our internet experience. For Mac users, Safari has been one of the great applications of OS-X. Fast, clean, effective and feature laden. The last update included a "smarter" address bar. I have yet to figure out how it is supposed to help you. In fact, this is bad, on the order of the old Microsoft Office paperclip helper. So much aggravation has accrued to this bar that I am re-trying Chrome.
Google has impressed me from the early days. I have used Gmail since the days when you had to get an invite. It gets better and better. And Docs, and Blogger, and all the rest are making me more loyal to Google than Apple applications. So now I dive into Chrome. Having played around with it for a few hours over a couple of days, I like it more and more. The extensions- there are many, and they work well. The address bar is a proper combo of addresses and search. It is fast enough, and has all the features I use. As well, TweetDeck integrated to Chrome well, so I need open one less app.
The things I like better about Safari? Oddly, when I edit my blog pages, the text resolution is much better. And I have come to like and use the page view that shows what sites I have been visiting. Even the really cool Themes for Chrome don't make up for Page View.
Chrome may be replacing Safari in my Dock, but the jury is still out.
